Business Continuity Coordinator

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
This position is primarily responsible for managing risk associated with business interruption by coordinating the development of advance arrangements and procedures so critical business functions can be resumed within a defined time frame, and the amount of loss can be minimized. This responsibility includes coordinating the design, development, maintenance, and exercising (testing) of the overall business continuity plans for each critical functional area of the enterprise. Ensure a proper Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is in place to support the needs of the critical functional areas. The Business Continuity Coordinator will also be responsible for participating in any actual disaster recovery effort.
Position also acts as Application Access Administrator responsible for managing user access to most applications supported by Information Technology Department. Position is responsible for user additions, modifications, and deletions when requested by proper authorization process. Individual has to possess the knowledge to administer user access across multiple systems with various interfaces and processes. The ability to work with functional administrators to maintain segregation of duties and review access is essential.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Leads enterprise-wide effort in the assessment of risk associated with business function interruption, development, and documentation of their Business Continuity Plans based on the risk assessment and annual update of their Business Impact Analysis (BIA). Review changes in corporate resources with the management of those areas to assure the effectiveness of the recovery procedures and backup capabilities.
Works with Information Technology group to develop, coordinate, analyze, and document the Information Technology Disaster Recovery Plan.
Develop and coordinate the exercises of the Business Continuity Plan. Process includes scheduling/coordinating with recovery site vendor and coordination with all participating departments including the IT Disaster Recovery restoration effort.
Administer user access for most applications supported by Information Technology. Develop documentation and processes to meet audit requirements.
Perform as administrator of the various applications used for BCP.
Conducts business recovery training for staff members in all functional areas. Assists business units in the assignment and training of staff.
Manages vendor and supplier relationships and project management in support of the Business Continuity Plan.
Maintains contact with outside contingency planning professional organizations and local/regional emergency response groups.
Assists recovery support and business resumption staff during a disaster in the implementation of response and alternate operating strategies. Acts as a coordinator during an emergency situation.
Serve as backup for Change Management Coordinator; coordinate daily change management process with operational staff and developers.
Required Qualifications: (Include education, experience, physical requirements, special skills and licenses or certifications required of the position.)
Bachelor's degree in Information Services, Computer Science, or Business, or equivalent experience.
5 years' experience within information technology including applications, hardware, software, security, data and voice communications in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures in these areas.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of current disaster recovery planning standards, techniques, and technologies as well as the methods used in performing business impact analyses.
Ability to develop a clear understanding of the company's key functional processes and resources.
Good project management skills. Ability to plan, organize and direct the testing of recovery support and business resumption procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills to interface with managers and staff at all levels within the organization and to deal with vendors of disaster recovery services.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Superior analytical skills.
Ability to travel as needed.
Able to work outside of normal work hours to address emergencies and perform scheduled off-hour activities.


Preferred Qualifications: (Preferred, but not required, to successfully perform the position requirements)


8 years' experience in the development, implementation and testing of DRP and BCP.
Certification in Business Continuity Planning.
10 years' experience in an Information Technology department.
Firm knowledge of contingency planning software.
1 years' experience in a Windows/Intel system environment.
1 years' experience working with voice and data communications.
