Human Resources Generalist

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:  Perform Human Resources generalist functions for corporate employees to ensure effective employee relations and regulatory compliance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Employment   Manage the staffing process by performing the following duties:

  • Screen resumes, conducting phone and in-person interviews.
  • Discuss offers with Hiring Manager and Sr. Manager, Corporate Human Resources to ensure compliance to equity within the organization. 
  • Make offers to selected candidates.
  • Request/review background checks and drug tests, and process all new hire paperwork (offer letters, benefit info, Workforce adjustments, etc.).
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Coordinate selection and placement of temporary employees as requested for corporate office.
  • Prepare separation paperwork and related documents.
  • Conduct exit interviews with voluntarily terminated employees to determine reasons behind separations.

Employee Relations/Advocacy:

  • Assist Human Resources Manager in the counseling of employees on work-related issues.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
  • Manage employee social events.
  • Assist with Corporate-specific policy development, deployment and interpretation.
  • Manage Corporate Random Drug Testing Program.  Includes management of policy and vendor.

Program Administration:

  • Government Compliance Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance by performing the following duties:
  • Develop and maintain annual Affirmative Action Plan for Corporate office.
  • Prepare and submit annual EEO-1, VETS-100, and OSHA reports.
  • Prepare and submit monthly Department of Labor reports.
  • Maintain posting of all required employee notices.                                                    
  • Employee Relocation
  • Manage daily administration of Employee Relocation Program.

HRIS Serve as primary contact for maintenance of HRIS data by performing the following duties:

  • Maintain accurate and timely HRIS data for corporate employees, including new hire additions, employee movements, and terminations.
  • Run reports as requested.
  • Conduct systems upgrade testing as needed.

Benefits Administer benefit programs to include:

  • Address employee questions related to eligibility/claims problems.
  • Manage filing of disability claims, STD, LTD & FMLA.
  • Coordinate Wellness Programs (YMCA, Weight Watchers, monthly visiting nurse, annual flu shots & blood draws, etc.)
  • Assist with employee communications.
  • Provide documentation to outside vendor in response to unemployment compensation claims.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of HR generalist experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail skills with ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as e-mail software applications.
  • Able to travel occasionally as needed.

This position must maintain the confidentiality of protected health information utilized in the course of job duties, in accordance with HIPAA regulations and company procedures.
